Release Date – Friday 24th November 2017
‘My World’ – the enchanting brand new EP from London-based, indie-electronica singer-songwriter: Leena Ojala is out on Friday 24th November!

Leena Ojala has been making waves within the music industry with her distinctive soulful vocals and indie-electronica style since she added electronic sound into her repertoire two years ago.

Her latest EP ‘My World’ is the next installment of her journey and the EP is out on Friday 24th November. The EP will be available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify.
With ‘My World’ Leena Ojala has come up with a more dynamic sound than her earlier melancholic offering. Not one to be pigeon-holed, Leena labels this EP as ‘more upbeat and non-genre specific’ and prides herself on the results, describing the project as a ‘natural progression’ of her style.

Leena began song writing at the age of 16 when she received her first guitar, and has said her deepest inspiration has come from numerous strong female vocalists such as Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, London Grammar, Halsey, and Lorde. ‘My World’ has been inspired by the many old and new musical influences that Leena has been surrounded with, leading to her new experimental sound.

Her musical direction is a fusion of contemporary alternative, indie, soul and electronica. Her style mixes dark lyrics, 80s infused vibes and soulful tones.
With a penchant for writing and producing infectious melodies with major choruses, this EP explores many subjects close to Leena’s heart. The title track ‘My World’ explores feelings of not conforming to other people’s expectations and is an indirect reflection of releasing her own music with little outside weight.

Leena explains how Track 2: ‘My Heart Beats’ was inspired by people who are never able to settle in one place, and the impact it has on others. In ‘Mixed Messages’ Leena sings about the ache of being messed around, and ‘Pretty Girl’ explores a girl with insecurities – ‘a girl who wants to fit in when there’s no real place for her and she just ends up following the crowd’.

In this EP Leena’s talent shines through and provides something for everyone, no matter where you are in your life. As an avid songwriter, the most challenging aspect of producing the EP for Leena was deciding which of her many tracks would appear on the EP.

Leena recently released her latest single and a video of ‘Paper Heart’, which was covered by Atwood Magazine and Ear Milk. Leena is currently performing as a solo acoustic act but also loves to mix things up. She also performs with another guitarist as an acoustic duo. Leena has received press coverage from the likes of The 405, The Fader, Clash Magazine, Idol Magazine and The Unsigned Guide.

Leena is looking forward to showcasing her new sound introduced in this EP and wants to leave her fans excited for more music releases.

Introducing: Leena Ojala
Born in Germany, Leena spent her early childhood in Hong Kong and then Essex; a cultural upbringing that would later prove an excellent influence on her artistic persona. Leena Ojala is an upcoming London-based artist whose genre is a fusion of contemporary alternative, indie, soul and electronica. Her style mixes dark lyrics and 80s infused vibes.
It was when she moved to London, aged 17 where she immersed herself into music, with strong female vocalists including Stevie Nicks, London Grammar and Kate Bush all being her inspiration when she was experimenting with her sound.

Leena relocated to Berlin for a short while where she was embraced by a city renowned for its anarchic creativity. She spent a number of months gathering new influences from the city’s vibrant music scene.
On returning to London she went straight into a studio and recorded her debut EP called ‘EP1’ – an impressive debut made up of three original songs of melancholic electronica set against Leena’s emotive vocals. ‘Why’, ‘Your Tears’ and ‘No Escape’ – are haunting, affecting and powerful. The EP also features a remix of ‘Why’ by the much feted Mancunian producer D/R/U/G/S.

Leena recently released her latest single and a video of ‘Paper Heart’, which was covered by the Atwood Magazine and Ear Milk.

Leena has been collaborating with other producers and is about to release a four-track EP at the end of November 2017; the release date for this has been set to 24th November 2017. Ahead of the EP release in November, Leena will release two singles from her EP.
Leena is currently performing as a solo acoustic act. However, she loves to mix things up, and also performs with a guitarist as an acoustic duo as a separate format. She has received previous press coverage from the likes of The 405, The Fader, Clash Magazine, Idol Magazine and the Unsigned Guide.
